Jeanie Marie Buss, an American businesswoman. She is the owner and president of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. A California native Buss grew up in an affluent family. Her father Jerry Buss was a real-estate businessman who became manager of the Lakers and other businesses related to sports. The emotional strain she felt was exacerbated when her parents separated in 1972. She joined her family's business in the age of 19 to become the general manager for the Los Angeles Strings tennis team. The team was later renamed an organization called the Los Angeles Blades, a professional, roller-hockey club. She was director of the Great Western Forum before assuming the position of vice-president for the Lakers. Her father died in 2013 and his controlling control of the Lakers was passed on to Buss and her five siblings via a trust for the family with each sibling having the same vote. She assumed the office of the president for the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss also owns Women of Wrestling, a professional wrestling promotion with headquarter in Los Angeles.
